Last Friday when I was discussing with my friend about his weekend plans I broke out into laughter listening his plans. He said he had an appointment for his bike servicing at 10 AM Sharp and taking the current pandemic situation in consideration he must reach there by 9:30 AM to put it in a queue. You might be thinking what is the fun fact in there. Let me tell you, he is the laziest person I have ever met. he goes on days without bathing, brushing only thing he does is eat drink pee & poo. That’s it. He got everything in his house, but is of no use. He had a gas stove, an induction stove and also microwave oven but prefers to order food online. Washing machine is available but he prefers the laundry service where they get your clothes cleaned, ironed and deliver to your door. Mop, vacuum cleaner everything lying aside and when his MAA comes his apartment she used to make the equipment feel they are alive.  Can you imagine the kind of person as mentioned above is going to had his bike serviced? Of course, he is.  He loves his bike and it does cost him a lot to buy and now to maintain but I never saw him missing any of his bike service. He takes care of it like his own baby starting from part modification to quality of engine oil, seasonal requirements and what not.


Thing is he just forgot he is also a machine which do require periodic oiling, greasing servicing and all just like his bike. Not only him many of us have forgotten the same about ourselves. Living a healthy life, it is just a “things to do” which used to make a place in the entry list of new year resolution of many each year. 

What is a healthy life?

All of us must have heard an old saying in our childhood “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy wealthy and wise” let’s start from beginning of the day. There are many reasons whether spiritual or scientifically that made our predecessor to come to a conclusion that getting up early and going to bed early is a healthy routine. Waking up early helps you plan your day properly. The one who are able to stick to the routine, starts their day with an optimistic vision towards the day and who don’t just end up finding out excuses to everything throughout the day. It’s not a difficult task, just try for 21 days as per study of psychology that will make you habitual for rest of your life.

Now let’s talk about healthy mind which is very essential to lead a healthy life. Human beings given the power to think are driven by emotions. Every day we come across 10 to 100s of number of people with varying emotions. We are all busy in our own life in such a manner that we expect others to work as per our requirement and when that doesn’t occur, Newton’s 3rd law comes into action. One must learn to control emotions that’s when they say to meditate.  Most of us don’t have time to that crazy thing called meditation, right! Simply sit down for 5 to 10 minutes and do nothing. Switch off your phone, TV and just sit idle. See it’s that easy. That’s when you delete temp files and cookies from your mind or like recharging brain. Monks do meditation to attain salvation and you are not going to do that but you will learn many a thing about yourself and that will help you to avoid Newton’s 3rd law in many situations which indirectly help you keep your mind healthy free from toxic thoughts.     


     

Healthy body plays similar importance just like healthy mind to lead a healthy life. For that we must understand how our body functions. It needs energy to run daily just like petrol for my friend’s bike and for human its food. There is no bad food no good food. What makes the difference between the two is simply the quantity of food that we intake.  I just don’t want to sound technical so in a layman terms we must feed our body the quantity it needs. This is how you can stay healthy else you will end up inviting diseases at your early age, that’s for sure. If you eat more than your bodies requirement, then you have to do some physical work in order to fill the requirement gap. That’s when they ask you to do morning walk, weight training, running and all. Everything is correlated.


Last one, your surrounding does play a role, you must keep it clean. That makes your surrounding filled with positivity. It’s simple lead a healthy life but we have made it look complicated and full of excuses. You can dear. Let’s make it happen this year and take it out from to do list for next year resolution.
